June 2008

Its been weeks since i posted something. Its time i post again. In these few weeks, i've been rushing some assignments, drawing, motion graphics, v.art, web design and the est of my modules.

For pixel art, we have came to an end already, now we are doing vector art.

I did a room for pixel art for my 2nd exercise, we were given a template of the room and we are supposed to design our own pixel room. I did a garage with a F1 car and the driver sleeping on the ground.

It looks like that. I got a C for that, because i was lazy to do the shirt and the human properly. I spent too much time on the car.

After that we are asked to create a character using pixels, i didnt know what character to do at first. Then i saw this keychain that diane bought for me last time. Then i modified it a little bit, made it hold a chain and a hook.

Lol i got a b+ for that.

Next we had to make it into vector and animate it using flash. Fun sia. However i couldnt show it here because i saved as a .swf (shockwave file). Next time then i make into jpeg.

Motion Graphics.

I did this assignment with a partner. This assignment is called MTV+me. Its very nice to do and i've learned another software called adobe After Effects which is quite fun compared to Final Cut Pro.

The video was quite last minute but we got good critics from the teachers and many good suggestions on how to improve on it so that we can do better for assignment 2.

already the second week of school. And i think i love every tuesday, because i like the games module alot. VART was damn fun today, we created mini games and had alot of fun in class. And i got to know a few nice classmates who had lots of funny and creative ideas. hah.

Assignments are piling up and i must organise my time properly.

hello people. its about a week after my studio project presentation. AHAH.

yes yes its the holidays now. i dont wanna say but time really flies. Cant really believe that i've been spending my past 20 weeks doing assignments, projects, tests, quiz and more work.

now another project is coming. haha but this time is for money. heheh.

Just finished all my work and back home. Didnt really rest much these few days. I could have finished all my work earlier because of something.

Its the shittiest movie i've ever watched by stephen chow... First thing its supposed to be funny, so i decided to watch to relieve stress. In the end i felt even more sian for wasting my time on it. Second thing is, the whole story only showed stephen chow, his son and that rubber creature. The 3 of them appeared in 95% of the whole movie. See also sian. However, there are some lame parts which i actually laughed at their actions. But overall the show is BORING.

i give it a 3/10

Headache, woke up at around 10+pm. Was telling myself dont sleep too long, wake up and do maya. An hour of sleep will do... in the end i overslept. Luckily got smses and msn to wake me up (thanks for those who talked to me on msn and smsed me)

Well i did a little bit on maya... tried some batch rendering shit, and it didnt work. Damn sad sia. So i decided to capture one scene from the assignment i'm actually working on for 3d.

Its not done yet so it looks messy. And my stupid com will lag a bit when i do. Damn it. Its damn sian when your com starts to lag when you are doing something. But I'm happy that i did at least the first part. Still got alot to do.

Oh My god... Wife in the coffee table...

Jeff.. the husband, ordered this special glass for 6 million dollars... for his dead wife!! The wife told him this before she died "We'll meet again in heaven." but the pain in jeff made him to explain to the cemetry caretaker and he brought his wife home. Many people stopped going to his house but some of his true friends respected him and continued. For me i'll never step into his house although i understand and respect his love for his wife. Its scary...

Anyway i've done my digital imaging work... just left to print at home tomorrow... yay.

Hey its first of Febuary.

New Month and also 7 more days to chinese new year. I dont really like Chinese New Year even though there are 5 days of holidays. Every year we'll do the same old thing. Visit relatives, collect ang pow, eat, slack. Nothing much to do sia... And our ang pows are getting smaller and smaller (i'm not talking about the size of the ang pow, I'm talking about $$$) haiz... hope all my relatives strike 4d and give us thicker ang pows (ya thicker = more $$$).

"Stupid Little Loser"

I felt damn sian damn sian so i did something stupid using maya... Actually i did this thing about a week ago when my friend wanted to flim some videos at plaza singapura. I only edited the animation and i modified the motion path. I call it the "Stupid Little Loser..." because i find it damn dumb to do these kinda things when i should be rushing on my assignments... but... really damn sian damn sian... I actually animated this animation. The cars behind whould be moving at a very fast speed, showing that time passes very very very fast. Our semester is going to end very very very soon, after the studio project.

I also tried doing other homework, i started on the 3D homework. Its actually quite difficult to do... We have to make the character move along the motion path and as well as the cameras and the environment. Whatever la next week then hand in what...

Should I continue my drawing? Make it 20? Yes? No? thinking....

Hey, i'm dead. I think.

Have been rushing my homework yesterday so didnt have time to post anything. However, i'm able to spend some time in the evening when i didnt felt like doing homework to edit some 3d works i've done a few weeks ago.

"Bowl?"

Its a bowling lane! Haha, the things i model are quite random anyway. I added lights to the picture. Design looks kinda simple but i think its good enough, yeah be confident. It took me about 2 hours modelling the bowling lane and creating the ball and pins. After that i just simplay added a sign on top and yeah. Can play already.

Thats another view of the bowling lane... Its kinda fun to play with the lights. I think i could have done better at modelling the ball and pins... I will do better next time.

Chapter 5

I want to say something first...

I'm scared of studio project...

Sunday... after watching chelsea defeating wigan 2-1 this morning, i starting to think. "how's my homework?" i told myself i wanted to do my drawing this weekend... but... i dont know why i didnt not do anything at all... i feel like shit... its due on thursday... what to do... will be damn rush if i do last minute. well...

But i managed to do 4 drawings in the end, its a good thing. Looking at my past homeworks... Then i found something i did 2 days ago... my storyboard video on the superglue advertisement... wow... i actually managed to do it using final cut pro which i've completely forgottened how to use... lucky.

Alright next. My next target is to get into NYP soccer, i'm training now, really training hard. However time is the problem now, can i cope with my studies if i join a cca? Will i train to be fit enough to pass the tryouts in April? I need to slim down la zzz... sian... how i wish i can have the attribute editor in maya to scale my size down... haha.

Another target is to pass everything in this semester. I WILL.

Here is another video which i did for my 3d test on thursday, I like it. Usually i only did modelling using maya and 3ds max but this is the first time i animate something (besides the frog guy). Wonder if i can pass, hope i can sia then i no need retake. I failed test 2 so better get at least a B for the retest. I WILL.

Chapter 2

While i surf the net a few days ago, i found these effing funny videos. Its about david blaine (fake one) doing some retarded magic on some losers who acted along with him in the videos. What the EFF!!??!?!! YOU DEMON.!!! you guys can watch it too, just type "funny david blaine" or something like that to get the link to a few videos and watch it, its really cool and stupid.

Alright getting serious now, today is tuesday. I had storyboarding and animation class today, i finally finished drawing my animation today. Yeah finally, one homework down, dont know how many effing more.

OKAY. I found out that working with maya and 3ds max is effing fun. I realised that the damn teacher did not teach us lighting in maya so i played around with the lights myself. I came out with something i like in 3 hours.

"Wanna play...?"

AHAHA... Mahjong table!! i think i'm still not very good at the lights. I did this piece of work a few days ago when my friends sent me the Maya 8.5 program. I didnt know what to do at first, then i walked out of my room and i saw this hong kong drama. There was a group of 4 people playing mahjong in a gambling den. Then the idea came to me... then i went back to my room after getting a drink, i stared making a table using a simple cube. Then the legs, then the drawers, then the lamp. Lastly, i added the chairs and the lightings.

After everything, here comes the render view. Woohoo..... a little bit blur but i think its alright. Happy. Shoik. Done.

I'm happy that i've learned another thing in maya. Hope the teacher will teach more. Test coming sia... must do well. 3d is my only hope. i didnt do well for drawing, digital imaging. must buck up. MUST.

Hello everybody. My name is Clarence Yeo. I am a boy. I study in Nanyang Poly. I'm a DMD (Digital media Design) student. I've been wanting to start a proper blog since i came into poly, but i think i should have enough things to show in this blog, more than just words. So right now in semester 2,term 3, i will begin posting together with my creations, using what i have learned during the semester.

"I want..." by Clarence Yeo "我要" is the direct traslation.

Right above is a piece of work i've done using a smart program by "Adobe" which is "illustrator" and a vector image of myself is created by me. It took me around 2 hours to think of what to do at first. My teachers always tell me that whenever i do a piece of work, i must think properly, generate lots and lots of ideas and pick the best out of them. Then start working on it BUT... before that, think again. Think of the composition, colour, bla bla bla. Sketch thumbnails. Ask for other people's opinion. Then ask yourself again.

After everthing is settled, alright, get on to work. Start with the body, then head then arms and aha, the finished work is satisfying. But not yet. I will do even better, come out with even better stuffs and improve and improve and improve and improve and tell myself that this is not the best i can do.

"I can do better than myself" is what i always say to myself. Dont really understand that but i think it just means to do better and i want to do better and thats what the "I WANT..." mean in the picture.

I did that piece of work with reference to a photograph taken by my friend a few months ago. Then there is this assignment that i have to come out with a vector design of an assignment for one of my module "Digital Imagng". So i tried doing it in class and i made tons of mistakes, then i decide to work on it more at home. Doing assignment is not fun at all so i looked at some photos taken last time and i saw this photo which i took last time when my class wanted to go back into the secondary times and wore secondary school uniforms on the day. In that photo i was acting like a bad boy with a bully face.

"Oei want fight arh...?" clarence says.

Kinda interesting but frusting to do as i will tend to mess up my layers and having a hard time to look for the mistakes i've made. Anyway, its my first try so i'm quite satisfied that i'm able to finish it in 2 hours. Doing my own work is much more fun than doing some stupid aggignments. The idea of making a vector image of myself came from my friend's vector artwork of a person and also the vector advertisement my teacher showed us during class.

I am also taking Typography, Storyboard and Art Direction, Drawing, Animation Fundamentals and Introduction to 3d as my core modules and i'm learning alot from these modules. Honestly i think that these few modules are much much much mre cooler than those we had in semester 1. Semester 1 suck hard. really.

I'm a fan of the CHARLTON ATHELIC and CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB , rock on.
